Sandy McEwan is a Banyjima person from the Pilbara region of Western Australia with a range of mining, horticulture, land management and training qualifications. Sandy has two strong passions – environment and Aboriginal training and employment. Sandy is a graduate of Rio Tinto’s successful Aboriginal Training and Liaison group and worked in a wide variety of roles in Rio Tinto Iron Ore until 2012.
Most recently, Sandy managed Rio Tinto Iron Ore’s recruitment of Indigenous employees from the mid-west region and through that time has interviewed more than two hundred Aboriginal people, and personally screened, signed and recruited more than one hundred Aboriginal people into operations across the Pilbara. Sandy is a renowned facilitator with a unique ability to engage people from all walks of life. Sandy has extensive experience delivering award winning training programs for Aboriginal participants in Meekatharra.
He has worked in a range of mentoring and employee support roles in mining, government and VET sectors.
Sandy is also owner and director of Western Mulga, a 100% Aboriginal owned environmental management business.
